Champion's Fans

"Mr. Jim Clark was my point of contact with Champion; he was courteous, professional and extremely helpful. It was a pleasure doing business with him. The members of all of the crews, water removal/drying, carpet layers and packers were courteous, professional, arrived on time, and completed work in a timely manner. In addition, they were friendly. We are very pleased with Champion's response and work and I will gladly recommend Champion to others. I will express my satisfaction with Champion to USAA." - Water Damage in Fayetteville, GA

Meet Me In Montana

This year for our vacation we decided to go to Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks. We spent a week in Yellowstone we saw some amazing rainbows, bison that held up traffic for at least 3o minutes, grizzly and black bears, even wolves. We went to see Old Faithful, but the most amazing geyser we saw is not that famous. It is called The Great Fountain Geyser and it was great, it just kept going and going. We did some hiking, saw some of the hot pools.  Then we went up to Glacier National Park. We were there for a week where saw more bears. We hiked the Highland Trail where we saw some sheep.  We went rafting down Lake McDonald. In the two weeks of being there we saw 21 bears several of which had cubs they were so cute.  We really enjoyed being in the outdoors and taking in all the sights can't wait to go again.

Peachtree City Classic

I would not call myself a runner, because I am not one, but I do like to challenge myself.  A friend recently invited me to join her for the Peachtree City Classic on October 16th. We are going to run the 5k. It doesn't sound like much a challenge, I know. However, I also recently accepted an invitation to run a half marathon in January and that is definitely a challenge. As turns out a half marathon is 13.1 miles.  So we will see. I've heard I should 'train' for something like this. So I have a 10 week training schedule to follow. Hopefully it works!

Below is some info on the Peachtree City Classic in case anyone is interested. It's sure to be a fun event and a good start to keeping fit during the Fall and Winter months.

The Peachtree City Classic is unique in its use of paved cart paths for the race. The scenic race is run mostly on the paths through green belt areas, by lakes, through short tunnels in the beautiful community of Peachtree City. The course was voted the Best Course in Georgia Athlete Magazine and is always a sellout so register early. The 15K race is designated the 2009 RRCA Southern Regional Championship and USATF 15K Grand Prix series. Georgia Winter Weather Awareness Week: December 6-10, 2010

Winter storms are considered “deceptive killers” because most deaths are indirectly related to the storm. Seventy percent of fatalities related to ice and snow occur in automobiles, and approximately twenty-five percent of all winter-related fatalities are people caught off-guard in the storm. Prolonged exposure to extreme cold can cause frostbite or hypothermia. Powerful winter storms can also have thunderstorms associated with them. These storms can dump as much as three inches of snow or one inch of ice in an hour.  So how can you prepare for winter weather? Here are a few tips.

  • Monitor radio/TV or NOAA Weather Radio.

  • Stay inside. Long exposure to cold increases the risk of frostbite or hypothermia.

  • If you must go out, dress in layers.

  • Avoid overexertion. The strain from the cold may cause a heart attack and sweating could lead to a chill and hypothermia.

  • Keep your gas tank at least half full.

  • Drive with caution and carry a disaster supplies kit in your trunk.

  • Have an alternative emergency heating source, such as a fireplace or wood stove. Use appropriate safeguards and have proper ventilation.

  • Make sure your home is properly insulated.

  • To keep pipes from freezing, wrap pipes in insulation or layers of old newspapers, cover the newspapers with plastic to keep out moisture, let faucets drip a little to avoid freezing, and know how to shut off water valves.
