Should I Repair a Water Damage Myself?
More often that not, taking a do-it-yourself approach to water restoration only compounds the problem because it’s difficult to accurately diagnose the scope of the damage. There are also less experienced water restoration companies out there that don’t fully understand the proper steps and precautions to take, and leave the customer with an even bigger problem than they had originally. The use of non-commercial equipment (like a shop vac) or box fans will not properly extract water from the carpet and pad. It is important to properly dry water-damaged areas and items within 24-48 hours.
The best and safest course is to hire a professional water damage restoration company. Champion Construction Systems has been serving the Atlanta area since 1970. Our technicians are IICRC certified in water damage restoration. Call 770-253-6070 if you have any water damage questions.

I would not advice you to do that as for the following considerations in my mind and I hope you would definitely agree to not resorting to self water removal as experts have the following edge on there procedures:
- State Of the art equipped technologies to restore water and fire damage and provide assistance on water remediation.
- Depending on the source, flooding water can be contaminated with bacteria or viruses, and may also present an electric shock hazard.
- If a severely flood is pumped out too quickly, it can sometimes lead to significant damage to foundation walls.
I feel like there are some parts of the clean up you can do by yourself but in general I feel like you should probably hire a pro.
In my opinion you should hire any company that provide this service. Because a professional company has several years of experience and these professionals are well-trained and have best knowledge to tackle your unique problem.
I got some pretty bad water damage in New Jersey where my house is because of Hurricane Sandy. I would not recommend doing it yourself and get a professional to get rid of the water damage for you because they will have the equipment necessary to complete the job. I am glad I got professional repair when I did.
