Flooring - A Fair Price

One of the most commonly asked questions when someone has an insurance claim that involves flooring replacement is, "Will my adjuster allow me a fair value for my flooring replacement?" In most instances, the homeowner does not have an invoice for the original installation of flooring with exact specifications. Even if he did, would it give an accurate picture of current prices for "like, kind and quality" materials? For that reason, insurance adjusters often use an objective third-party expert to ensure that both the adjuster and the homeowner receive a fair settlement price for flooring replacement and that fair replacement products can be located.
The third-party expert which we at Champion commonly are directed to use is called ITEL. A sample of the flooring is submitted to the ITEL laboratories where a technology-driven, detailed analysis is performed to determine the pertinent material specifications. ITEL then compares the sample’s specifications to a comprehensive database of products that is readily available in today’s marketplace to find an appropriate match. All of this is done with a turnaround of as little as one business day. In most cases, this service is paid for by your insurance company.
Hopefully, you will never experience a catastrophic water or fire damage claim that involves flooring replacement. But, rest assured, that if such an event occurs, we at Champion are here 24/7 to help you through the restoration process and work with your insurance company to successfully get things "back to normal". So whether your insurance claim involves carpet, vinyl, wood, or laminate flooring, we will work with your insurance company to make sure that you get a "fair price".
