9 to 5: The Musical

I attended the musical 9 to 5 at the Fabulous Fox Theatre in Atlanta, GA on October 2, 2010. What an incredible show. The original movie starred Dolly Parton, Lily Tomlin, and Jane Fonda. It is a classic 1980 film. Dolly Parton wrote the music and lyrics for the musical. We were all surprised when Dolly Parton made a special appearance. She was in Atlanta for the weekend. The cast even seemed to be surprised by her visit, as they started crying when she took the stage.
Another special guest was Diana DeGarmo. If you are an American Idol fan, you will recognize her as the runner-up in season three. Diana auditioned for American Idol while living in Snellville, GA. She attended Shiloh High School. She was 16 when she was on American Idol. Diana reprised the role of Doralee Rhodes, originally played by Dolly Parton. She did an excellent job.For those of you who have never been to the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, I highly recommend it. The theatre is a fully restored 1929 "Movie Palace". The Fox has 4,678 seats. The theatre is used for Broadway shows, ballet, symphonies, concerts, movies, and private corporate events. There are three private rental spaces, which accommodate 25 to 1200 guests. Many people host their wedding in these beautiful ballrooms. The next musical on the schedule is "Dreamgirls" October 12-17, 2010. For those of you with children, I highly recommend "Beauty and the Beast", which will appear at the Fox on January 12-16, 2011.
