Pack-Out? Huh?

When a customer is told that their house is going to be packed out, sometimes what they envision is not an accurate depiction of what actually takes place. So, just to offer a bit of clarity, here is a general explanation of what to expect:
For water damages that require hard wood floor repairs, a pack-out entails removal of contents from the top and insides of furniture as well as removal of the furniture and/or appliances from the affected areas to either an on-site container or another area of the house that will not be restored. If the carpeting is being replaced, the furniture is emptied of contents but the furniture itself remains and is shifted as needed by the flooring subcontractor. The contents are boxed or tagged and labeled to facilitate a faster move-back. The items are returned upon the completion of the restoration project.
For fire damages, contents are boxed or tagged, labeled with a barcode, scanned into a laptop computer via a mobile inventory station and packed into a moving truck. The items are then taken to our facility, cleaned, ozoned and returned to your home at the completion of the restoration.
If you are wondering what you can do to make this process easier for you and your family, here are some things to remember:
-Remove important documents you may need during the process.
-Remove items that are high in value or of extreme sentimental value to you.
-Remove any items (including clothing) that you may possibly need during the process.
If you do forget to get something and remember it later on, communicate this to the Contents Supervisor and the items will be retrieved for you. Don’t be afraid to ask for details concerning the pack-out. If you need us to, we are prepared to explain the whole process to you.
