Champion's Fans

"Mr. Jim Clark was my point of contact with Champion; he was courteous, professional and extremely helpful. It was a pleasure doing business with him. The members of all of the crews, water removal/drying, carpet layers and packers were courteous, professional, arrived on time, and completed work in a timely manner. In addition, they were friendly. We are very pleased with Champion's response and work and I will gladly recommend Champion to others. I will express my satisfaction with Champion to USAA." - Water Damage in Fayetteville, GA

Hail Storms - How to Protect Yourself and Your Family

summerOn Wednesday, February 18th, fierce thunderstorms swept Georgia with tornadoes, hail and lightning.  The National Weather Service confirmed at least nine tornadoes touched down during the storms. In addition to the tornadoes, extremely large hail was reported across the state. Widespread reports of golfball to baseball sized hail were received.  Below are a couple of links to some YouTube videos of the hail storms in Coweta and Fayette counties that you might want to check out.

Hail Storm in Fayette County

Hail might not seem like a big deal, but it can shatter windows, leave pockmarks in siding and destroy or damage roof coverings. Hail causes $1 billion in damage to crops and property each year.  In light of these facts, I wanted to share some helpful information I came across on www.flash.org.  It is still very early in tornado season this year so please take the time to read these tips and prepare yourself, your family and your home.

BEFORE A HAIL STORM:

·Make sure your roof covering is impact-resistant. Do not rely on building codes or regulations to protect you. Look for the UL2218 label on the package and literature confirming the product has passed this test.

·Listen to weather updates and reports on hail activity.

·Close your drapes, blinds or window shades to prevent the wind from blowing potential broken glass inside.

DURING A HAIL STORM:

·Do not try to go outside to protect your property during a storm. Stay indoors until the storm has passed.

·Stay away from skylights, windows and doors.

AFTER A HAIL STORM:

·Check the trees, shrubs and plants around your house. If they are stripped of their foliage, there is a possibility your roof is damaged. Another sign of potential roof damage is if patio covers, screens or soft aluminum roof vents are dented.

·Cover any broken windows and holes in your roof, so that no water can enter and damage your home's interior.

·When you need to re-roof select an established, licensed and insured contractor.
